My top reads in 2025

I might be a little late, but I’m announcing my favorite reads of 2025. Although most were released that year, sometimes I’m a little bit behind in my reading and some were published earlier. Also, at times I listen to the audiobook so that I can get to more stories. I’m sure you can relate! I have a TBR pile that grows while I breathe.

Oh my, this book! Now I promise you that I don’t always choose my reading material from GMA or Reese, or anyone else. But this book piqued my interest and after a while I gave in. I’m glad I did. This one lives up to the hype! I find that to be rare. I’m not a huge historical fiction reader these days but this is a rare period of history: colonial days. I was riveted, not just to the mystery, but to the heroine and the tragic story of her life. There’s sadness but sprinkled with moments of joy for the balance. Definitely not grim. Give it a go if you’re so inclined.

Next up, my little thriller obsession. I’m sharing this one in next month’s newsletter, too. Shari Lapena can certainly weave a thriller that keeps me guessing all the way through. And no, I didn’t see it coming! This one, I will have you know, was not recommended by GMA and I found it all by myself with the help of rabid thriller fans. Thanks! You might also enjoy this one and let me know if you do.

Continuing with the thrillers I devoured last year, friends, this book was so weird. I’m not sure I have words here. It’s equal parts thriller and horror in my opinion but it had to make my top list because of the way it drew me in and wouldn’t let go. If you like deranged couples, you’re going to like this one!

Of course I need to end with a book by one of my favorite authors. Her summer books make my top reads every year. Let’s get real. Though marketed as romance, which I completely understand, these are women’s fiction books. The journey is always the heroine’s and I always learn something new. This year the topic if body dysmorphia with heavy commentary on how society tortures women for their size. There’s a lovely slow burn romance with the “best looking guy in the world” undisputed by everyone who meets him. You will love this book.
